February Student-Athlete of the Month

WATERLOO - The Hawkeye Community College athletic department has recognized the freshman duo of Konner Roth of men’s track and field and Megan Hudson of women’s track and field as February’s student-athletes of the month.

The East Sac alum Roth put together a strong month on the track and has excelled as of late for the RedTails during his freshman season. During the NJCAA Regional Track Meet held in Storm Lake on February 17th, Roth posted a time of 1:57.77 in the 800 Meter Run to finish runner-up in the event. Earning him NJCAA Region XI 2nd Team All-Region honors and qualifying for indoor nationals. He would also go on to team up with Landon Boomsma, Ryan Millikin, and David Thompson to finish 2nd in the 4x800 Meter relay.

Hudson competes in the 60 Meter Hurdles and the 4x400 for the RedTails Track & Field team. At the NJCAA Regional Meet, Hudson won the 60 Meter hurdles after sprinting to the finish line in a time of 9.25 seconds. Earning her NJCAA Region XI 1st Team All-Region honors and a bid to nationals as a top 20 time in the Nation. She would also go on to team up with Atlanta Groeneveld, Mikki Mundus, and Jurane Lizer to finish 3rd in the 4x400 Meter relay.

Both Roth and Hudson will be competing at the NJCAA National Indoor Track & Field Meet on March 2-3 in Lubbock, Texas.
