WATERLOO–Robbie Carroll has been selected as the new head coach for men's and women's soccer at Hawkeye Community College.
Carroll was previously head men's and women's soccer coach at Northwest Kansas Technical College, where he led both teams to playoff appearances and the women's team earned its first national ranking in program history. In addition to the on-field success, Carroll's women's team earned NJCAA Women's Soccer Academic Team of the Year honors with a 3.59 team GPA for the 2017-2018 school year. His men's team took a close second in the nation for the NJCAA Men's Soccer Academic Team of the Year with a 3.37 team GPA for the same year.
Prior to Northwest Kansas Technical College, Carroll was an assistant men's soccer coach for his alma mater, Tyler Junior College, and helped lead the Apaches to a runner-up finish and an NJCAA Men's Soccer National Championship. He also served as an assistant coach for Thomas Jefferson University, director of goalkeeping and academy at Continental F.C., and the director of goalkeeping for Rush Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He also has experience with coaching and consulting for Northwest College in Wyoming and Rush Soccer in Colorado. He was assistant coach for the Myrtle Beach Mutiny in South Carolina and assistant operations director for the Colorado Springs Switchbacks in Colorado.
Carroll's career as a player includes years playing professionally in Norway, Sweden, and Bulgaria, before an injury sidelined his career. Prior to that, he played at the collegiate level for Tyler Junior College and Wakefield College in Wakefield, England. He is a graduate of Wakefield College in England, as well as Oslo Language College in Norway.
He lives in Waterloo with his wife, Maren, and their two dogs, Cody and Maggie.
