INDEPENDENCE, Mo.–Emari Grimes of Independence, Mo., has signed a letter of intent to join the track and field team at Hawkeye for the 2019-2020 season.
Grimes has had an impressive track career at Fort Osage High School, where she holds the school record in the 200 and 400-meter dashes, while also contributing to a school record in the 4x100 relay. She earned all-state honors in the 400 and has been named a conference and district champion.
"Emari Grimes is one of the fastest girls in the country," said head coach Tyler Mulder. "We're excited to have her join the squad, as we're really trying to build a dominant 4x4."
Grimes is the daughter of Adrian and Bobby Grimes and will enroll in the Business Administration Transfer program.
