DES MOINES-RedTails Track and Field Men's and Women's teams had a trio of events that placed in the top 20, and one event placing in the top four.
The women's team competed in the 4x800 meter, Alayna Kollasch, Madison Larsen, Rebecca McDermott and Joanna Topham led the team to a 17th place finish, with 10:04.79. They took the fastest split of 2:26.14. Krayton Allen, Paighton Malek, Megan Hudson and Emily Hovden ran the 4x100 meter, placing 22nd out of 33 teams, posting a 49.74, not far off of their season best time, and within a second of the NJCAA time qualifier.
On the men's side Konner Roth, Landon Boomsma, David Thompson, and Payton Bahl placed fourth overall with a time of 7:45.76, with Thompson taking a monster split going 1:53.27, taking the team from ninth to third. The 4x100 meter relay placed 16th out of 39 teams in the college division, finishing under a second of hitting the NJCAA auto qualifying time.
"It's always fun seeing how the RedTails made up of freshman and sophomores fair against 4 year programs," said head coach Tyler Mulder. "Up next is our regional meet in council bluffs where we look to get some more auto standards to nationals!"
