COUNCIL BLUFFS–The Hawkeye Community College women's track and field team powered its way to a third-place finish at the six-team Region XI Championship hosted by Iowa Western Community College over the weekend.
The RedTails, who finished with 85 team points, were led by Emily Hovden's first-place finish in the pole vault with a height of 2.55 meters. Hawkeye also received second-place finishes from Joanna Topham in the 1,500 (4:54.47) and Madison Larsen in the 3,000 steeplechase (12:16.66).
Rounding out the top finishers for the RedTails were a host of third-place finishes by Topham in the 800, Megan Hudson in the 100 hurdles, Zareeel Knox in the triple jump, Haile Cook in the hammer throw, plus the 4x100 and 4x800 relays.
The RedTails are back on the road May 16 in the NJCAA Outdoor Nationals at New Mexico Community College.
