CEDAR FALLS - The Hawkeye Community College Men's and Women's Track & Field teams continued their impressive inaugural seasons by putting on several strong performances at the Jack Jennett Open inside the UNI-Dome. The Men's Track & Field team had an excellent showing in both the field events and on the track to collect 50 team points and a 4th place finish in the final team standings.
Headlining the field events for the RedTails was Zachary Conger, the Hedrick, IA native, took flight for a jump of 6-02.75 to finish 4th overall in the Men's High Jump. On the oval it was Riley Little qualifying in the 60 Meter Hurdles final and finishing 7th overall with a time of 8.95 in the event.
In a field loaded with talent, Brandon Beard would win his heat in a time of 49.93 and take home a runner-up finish in the Men's 400 Meter Dash. Beard also teamed up with his brother, Kenneth Beard, Cole Willert, and Jack Jensen to finish 2nd in the 4x400 Meter Relay with a final time of 3:23.67. Avery Moore and Conner Riehm took first and second in the first heat of the Men's 600 Meter Run and would go on to finish 6th and 7th overall in the event.
The RedTails also had a prominent presence in the long distance events. In the Men's One Mile Run, David Thompson finished strongly to earn a 5th place finish in a time of 4:34.88. In the Men's 800 Meter Run, it was another 5th place finish for the RedTails as Konner Roth would run a time of 1:59.99. The freshman cross country duo of Ryan Millikin and Malcolm Myers would also collect team points for the RedTails in the 3000 Meter Run. Millikin (9:31.69) would finish 3rd in the event with Myers (9:37.29) right on his heels to take 4th.
The RedTails men's and women's Track & Field teams will travel to Mankato, Minnesota to compete at the Ted Nelson Classic hosted by Minnesota State on February 3rd.
