MANKATO - The RedTail men's and women's Track & Field teams made the trek North on the first Saturday in February to Minnesota State University to compete in the Ted Nelson Classic inside the Myers Fieldhouse in Mankato, Minnesota.
The men's team would finish in 8th place in the final team standings after collecting 21 points throughout the 17 scored events.
Headlining the field events for the RedTails would be Zach Conger, as the freshman took flight for a jump of 6-04.25 to claim a 5th place finish in the men's high jump.
On the track, the all-freshman Distance Medley team consisting of Landon Boomsma, Cole Willert, Konner Roth, and David Thompson would finish 2nd overall in the event after posting a final time of 10:55.34. Roth also would put together a strong race in the 800 Meter run as he would finish in a time of 2:02.88 and take home 9th.
In the 60 Meter hurdles, it was Riley Little qualifying for the finals and running a time of 8.63 seconds to finish in 8th place in the event.
The Beard brothers would also continue to shine on the track for the RedTails. The 400 Meter Dash showcased Kenneth Beard, and his time of 51.08 would earn him a 7th place finish.
Brandon Beard would also star in his event, the 200 Meter dash. Beard would win his heat and take home a 3rd place finish after sprinting to the finish line in a time of 22.25, qualifying him for Indoor Nationals.
The RedTail Track & Field team's will travel to Platteville, Wisconsin next to compete inside Williams Fieldhouse for the UW-Platteville Invitational on February 10th.
