DES MOINES - Several RedTail Track & Field athletes made their return to the Drake Relays to compete at the Blue Oval where they once shined in their high school days prior to Hawkeye Community College.
Headlining the performances on the track for the men's team was the 4x200 Meter Relay team for the RedTails. The team of Brandon Beard, Kenneth Beard, Avery Moore, and Riley Little bolted to the finish line in a time of 1:26.83 to win their heat. The RedTails time earned them a 2nd place finish in the event overall, finishing only behind Big 10 powerhouse Purdue.
Kenneth Beard, Moore, and Little also teamed up with Jakob Luna to compete in the 4x100 Meter Relay. Posting a time of 43.05, the RedTails finished 25th overall. Kenneth Beard once again would be paired with his brother Brandon, along with Jack Jensen and Cole Willert to take part in the 4x400 Meter Relay. The RedTails finished 28th after a final time of 3:24.32.
3:32.17 was all the time it took for the RedTail team of Luna, Moore, Willert, and Konner Roth to finish the Sprint Medley Relay. That time earned them a 10th place finish in the event.
For the Distance Medley Relay, Hawkeye also put together an impressive performance from the team of Jensen, Ryan Millikin, David Thompson, and Peter Torkleson. Posting a time of 10:47.86, the RedTails took home 15th in the event.
The RedTails will be in action next at Iowa Western Community College for the Region XI Outdoor Championships on May 4-5.
