Pekin Senior Sam Roth Commits for RedTail Track and Field

WATERLOO - The Hawkeye Community College Men's Track & Field announces the signing of Sam Roth to the RedTail family.

A four-time State Cross Country Championship Qualifier for Pekin High School, Roth has posted a PR of 17:24.59 in the 5K run. In addition to his success on the course, Roth has also had excellent success on the oval. As a Freshman he qualified for the State Track & Field Meet in the 4x800M relay taking 17th place and posting a time of 8:37.32. As a Junior he along with current RedTail track athlete, Ryan Millikin, took the 1A crown in the 4x800M relay posting a time of 7:58.63, separating themselves from the rest of the field by over ten seconds. In addition to the 4x800M relay, Roth was also part of the 4x400M relay and Distance Medley Relay that took 2nd (3:22.85) and 3rd (3:35.81) respectively at the 2017 State Track and Field Meet.

The son of Carin & Darin Roth, Sam plans on majoring in the Liberal Arts Two-Year Transfer Program at Hawkeye Community College before enrolling at Iowa State University in the Cyclones Agriculture Business Program.
