The Hawkeye Community College women's soccer team beat Dakota County Technical College 6-1 in Wednesday's matchup.
The RedTails stuffed all of their offense into the first half. Sara Swiatly got the ball rolling with a goal in the eighth minute, and Sonia Carmona followed in the 12th minute. Two minutes later, Emma Berte found the back of the net for her first goal of the season.
The RedTails continued to tack on goals as Swiatly added her second of the game in the 18th minute, and Hawkeye's Chloe Allen found open teammate Angel Wallukait for her third goal of the season. In the 30th minute of regulation, Carmona capped the RedTails' scoring on a free kick outside of the box.
"We went back to the basic fundamentals of the game and focused on our ball movement and communication," said Carmona.
The RedTails improved to 3-7 overall.
