MASON CITY–The RedTails Soccer team traveled to Mason City on Saturday where they faced the tough NIACC Trojans. The RedTails fell short with a 4-2 loss in the pre-season match up.
The women's matchup saw high energy from both teams. Goalie Linda Leahy had a busy day, with seven saves out of 11 Trojan attempts. The RedTail offense started off slow, but started heating up more in the second period, with two goals from Lydia Black on assists from Chloe Allan (69:05, 83:05). Leahy's performance kept the RedTails in the game from the jump, though in the end it wasn't enough to overcome the Trojan offense.
"We are still finding our feet, but we will get there when it matters," Carroll said. "We made young mistakes and gave NIACC three out of four goals, we showed great character and controlled the majority of the game, we just have to be more clinical when attacking and smarter when playing out of the back."
The RedTails will face the Trojans again in conference play at home on October twelfth.
