NORFOLK, NE-- The RedTail Women's Soccer team pulled out a dramatic overtime victory over the Northeast Community College Hawks on October 26 in the quarterfinals of the NJCAA Region XI Tournament
The Hawks took an early lead with an 18th minute goal Kahrena Thompson. Freshman Faith Cullen-Cooper tied the game just before halftime by netting an unassisted goal in the 41st minute.
That score held for the rest of regulation as the teams took a 1-1 tie into extra time.
The RedTails wasted no time putting the game away in the first overtime period. Chloe "Little Boy" Allan put in an outstanding header off an assist from Cullen-Cooper for the golden goal.
The victory avenges an early season loss where Northeast won 6-0.
"I think it has shown how much we have grown since our last trip," said head coach Robbie Carroll after the game, "Northeast are a good team and it was a battle but our perseverance won out. I'm proud of all of them."
The RedTails will face Iowa Western in the Region XI semifinals on October 29 in Council Bluffs, IA.
