Pella Senior Paighton Malek Commits for Track and Field

WATERLOO- Hawkeye Community College women's track and field team welcomes Paighton Malek to the RedTail family.

Malek was a pivotal member of the 2017 Class 3A state champion sprint medley relay team from Pella High School, finishing with a time of 1:47.90. Individually Malek qualified for the 2015, 2016, and 2017 State Championships in the long jump taking 2nd (17-2.75), 3rd (17-5), and 5th (16-11.25) respectively. Malek also took 5th place (13.31) in 2015 and 19th (12.78) in 2017 in the 100M race at the State Championships. In addition to her accomplishments at the State Championships, Malek qualified for the Drake Relays in 2016 and 2017 competing in the long jump.

Paighton is the daughter of Shanna Malek, and plans to enroll in the Criminal Justice Transfer program at Hawkeye Community College in the fall.
