WATERLOO–Hawkeye Community College welcomes cross country athlete Joanna Topham to the RedTails family.

Topham competed in both cross country and track and field for Griswold High School. She was a two-time qualifier for the Iowa State Cross Country Championships, running a 25:12.2 in 2015 and placing 16th in Class 1A in 2016 with a time of 20:39.1. As a senior, she was able to compete in the 2016 Senior All-Star Cross Country Race, earning second in the western region of the state.

On the track and field side, Topham qualified for the 2017 Iowa State High School Track and Field Championships earning eighth place in the Class 1A 3000M (11:06.58), 14th in the 800M (2:28.63), and fourth place in the 1500M  (4:57.05).

Joanna is the daughter of Jeff and Lori Topham of Griswold and plans to enroll in the Liberal Arts Transfer program.
