RedTail Women’s Throwers Perform at Augustana’s Meet of Champions
ROCK ISLAND, ILL–Select student-athletes from the RedTail Women's Track and Field team competed on Friday, April 21, and Saturday, April 22, at the Augustana's Meet of Champions.
Some positives from the meet include freshman Elyse Trunck's 14th place position in the discus, throwing 115–11 between her two throws. Carlie Hoppe also received seventh place in the heptathlon 200-meter dash, running a 29.13. Additionally, she jumped 1.34 meters in the high jump, 4.23 in the long jump, threw 26.04 in the javelin, and received first place in the shot put throw with 10.97 meters. These performances earned her the school record in a heptathlon event.
The women's team scored 20th place overall. Head coach Scott Roberts commented on the performance saying, "Everyone of the throwers and multi-eventers competed well, under trying weather conditions."
The RedTails are back in action at the Drake Relays, as well as the Simpson meet on April 28. Good luck and go RedTails.
