Hawkeye Golf Team Hosts RedTail Spring Shootout
Hawkeye Community College welcomed a competitive field to Irv Warren Memorial Golf Course in Waterloo on March 30 for the annual RedTail Spring Shootout, showcasing both the men's and women's golf programs against regional and NJCAA opponents.
The RedTails have built their success on depth, consistency, and steady scoring across the lineup. Hawkeye competed against a strong field of four-year and junior college programs. The team demonstrated its ability to stay competitive round-to-round, with multiple players contributing to the overall team score.
The RedTail Spring Shootout provided an opportunity to compete on a familiar course while continuing to build confidence in a tournament setting.
Mitchell Randall shot three under par to secure the lead after his round. Kaden Kopsa ended the round at par, while teammate Oliver Thompson sat just one stroke over.
"We couldn't have asked for a better day for golf in Iowa in March. Mitchell had a great round shooting a career best and winning the tournament. I am proud of the team for getting the team's first win this year. The women did good things and had nice stretches of holes, showing improvement from the fall. Looking forward to playing in the Upper Iowa Invite this weekend" said head coach Micah Destival.
