RedTails Deliver Strong Showing at Gates Park
On April 17, Hawkeye Community College men's and women's golf teams turned in competitive performances at Gates Park Golf Course in Waterloo, Iowa, showcasing consistency, resilience, and standout individual moments during their latest spring outing.
Men's Team Recap
The RedTail men put together one of their best collective rounds of the season, finishing runner‑up to a strong Southeast squad on a course that demanded precision from tee to green.

Mitchell Randall led the way with a sharp 2‑under 70, navigating both nines with steady scoring.

Preston Martens and Daniel Wiese each posted even‑par 72s, giving Hawkeye three players at par or better.

Martens delivered the highlight of the day — and arguably the season — by recording an albatross on hole 10, an exceptionally rare feat in competitive play.

Matty Bain added an 83, while Ty Faltys rounded out the lineup with an 89.
Coach Micah Destival commented on the men's performance, commenting, "The guys played great today, finishing runner-up to a good Southeast squad. The highlight of the day was Preston Martens making an albatross on hole #10. Looking forward to next week and the last regular season tournament at NIACC."
Women's Team Recap
The RedTail women continued to show encouraging progress, piecing together strong stretches of golf throughout their round at Gates Park.

Makenna Brissey led the team with a 91 (+19), settling into a rhythm on the back nine.

Eve Brumbaugh followed with a 95 (+23), highlighted by several well‑executed holes that kept her momentum steady.

Delaney Legg and Natalie Sinnwell posted 100 and 101, each finding positive stretches of scoring.

Jillian Reistetter added a 104, while Cadie Cheney (IND) finished with a 143.
Finishing up with the women's, Coach Destival said, "The women once again did a lot of nice things on the course. We tend to figure things out at some point in the round and go on nice stretches of pretty good golf. Looking forward to next week and the last regular season tournament at NIACC."
