RedTails Fall 2–0 to Marshalltown CC in Home Match
The Hawkeye Community College RedTail men's soccer team battled hard but came up short in a 2–0 loss to Marshalltown Community College on Wednesday afternoon at the Hawkeye Sports Complex.
Marshalltown struck early, with Matoi Yanagisawa scoring in the 7th minute to give the Tigers a 1–0 advantage. Despite a strong defensive response from the RedTails, Marshalltown extended its lead in the 56th minute when Haru Takizawa found the back of the net off an assist from Kaisei Noguchi.
Goalkeeper Roberto Romanelli made one save for Hawkeye, anchoring the defense through several key moments. Midfielders Magnus Oredsen and Alexander Aslanidis each registered a shot on goal, creating some of Hawkeye's best opportunities throughout the match.
The game saw intense competition, with both sides showing physical play that led to multiple cards issued, including red cards for Hawkeye's George Mills and Marshalltown's Thomas Mejia.
Despite the result, the RedTails continued to demonstrate grit and teamwork as they look to close out the regular season on a strong note.
