Smithen joins Men’s Track and Field team
We are excited to announce that Aziel Smithen from Keys, St. Kitts, a graduate of Cayon High School, has signed to Hawkeye Community College. Aziel will join the RedTail Men's Track and Field team as a thrower while pursuing a degree in accounting.
Aziel began competing in athletics in 2010 as a sprinter before transitioning to throwing in 2015, where he has continued to excel and develop his skill set. Over the years, he has earned recognition as a national champion multiple times in his home country, showcasing both talent and consistency at a high level of competition. His experience and competitive background will be a strong addition to the program as he continues his athletic and academic journey at Hawkeye.
"Hawkeye has a strong academic and athletic reputation and being a part of this school aligns with my personal values. I am excited to meet my fellow classmates and track family to learn as much as possible about them and build relationships. I have been competing since 2010 as a sprinter and over the years gravitated towards throwing. I have been recognized as the National Champion for various years in my country and I will use this opportunity to better myself." Aziel shared.
