Sports Shooting Takes 3rd Place at Cedar Rapids Invitational
CEDAR RAPIDS- The Hawkeye Community College sports shooting squad took their talents to the Iowa Corridor 2016 Collegiate Invitational this last Saturday, October 22 to compete. Hawkeye's top five shooters combined for a score of 474 which earned them a third place finish, trailing only Iowa Central and Southwestern.
Ross Wolken and Austin Boldt were the RedTails top shooters, hitting 96 birds a piece.
Wolken and Boldt tied for 13th overall in the men's division. Emily Klein had herself a spectacular performance as she scored a 95 and then went on to win a shoot-off to claim a true third place in the ladies division. Iowa Central had the top shooters in both divisions, along with the top team score of 492 out of 500. After beating out his teammate in a shoot-off, Dylan Scheepers was the men's top shooter with a 99. Jessica Gunderson lead the ladies division, recording a 97.
Hawkeye's sports shooting team has a big weekend ahead of them as they travel to Ohio to compete in the SCTP National tournament.
