Sports Shooting Takes Second at Southwestern Community College Invite
AFTON, Iowa–The Hawkeye RedTails Sports Shooting team capped off their fall season Saturday, November 5, at the Southwestern Community College Invitational. Hawkeye Community College placed second out of six teams with a score of 476, falling just 10 birds behind invite winner, Iowa Central Community College.
Ross Wolken and Shane Slaymaker led the RedTails with scores of 96 each. Jordan Lentz and Emily Klein were right behind them with 95, and Austin Boldt recorded a 94.
Klein also placed first in the women’s division.
“Emily made some adjustments and it paid off,” said coach Kevin Boldt. “I would like to congratulate our entire team for the strong finish at the SWCC meet, we were able to put together some good scores and bring home a second place team trophy.”
The Hawkeye RedTails Sports Shooting squad will start the spring season on April 8, 2017, when they host their first meet at the Cedar Falls Gun Club.
