RedTail Sports Shooting Earns Six Championships at Nationals
The RedTail Sports Shooting team traveled to Marengo, Ohio, and landed an overall ninth place finish and six championship titles at the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) National College Championship on March 18-21. Overall, the 11 RedTails tallied 2,533 birds.
"When we take 11 student-athletes to a competition like ICSSC and SCTP College National Championships, we count on all 11 being productive to the success of Hawkeye RedTail Sports Shooting," said head coach Troy Emley.
Alexis Teribury led the RedTails with scores included in five of the national championships. Teribury took home two individual medals in International Skeet and 5-Stand. Her impressive performances earned her 20th place out of all ladies in the competition.
Jake Maakestad also performed strongly for the RedTails, with scores included in all six disciplines for the RedTails team score.
"We could count on Jake to continue putting up scores to help us be competitive," said coach Emley.
Jeb Collins also put up an impressive performance with competitive scores all across the board, including the top score for International Skeet.
"We need to continue to work on focusing on the birds, preparing for success, and growing on the field, in the classroom, and in life," says coach Emley. "We are proud of the winning, personal best, and award-winning performances. This is a great group of athletes. They have been fun to coach."
