RedTail Sports Shooting student-athlete Colton Crooks has been named Scheels Male Athlete of the Week for his performance at the ICCAC Conference & SCTP State Championship on October 21st.
Colton Cooks is Iowa SCTP Junior College Clay Target Champion and ICCAC Conference Champion. He accomplishes his success on the field while also maintaining his success in the classroom. Colton was the Individual High-Over-All Male Captain with 323 targets, which was also the best in the state of Iowa. He was also the Individual Skeet Champion with 99 targets which tied the school record, the Individual Sporting Clays Champion with 88 targets, and the Individual Trap-Singles Champion with 98 targets. He also helped the RedTails team score in all events, holding school records as a team in Skeet, Sporting Clays, and Super Sporting as well as being the Team Trap Singles Champions.
"Colton Crooks' performance is the best individual performance, on our team, I have ever witnessed during championship weekend," said head coach Troy Emley.
"I didn't shoot that well the first couple of meets but I know there will be some bad days and I won't always shoot how I would like to. Not letting the pre-state meets get to me, I stepped into the state meet just like it was any other meet," said Colton. "I had to try to stay calm, collected, and make sure I was focused on every single target."
Crooks is originally from Charles City, IA.
