Rylie Devlin Signs to Mount Mercy to Continue Athletic and Academic Career
RedTail Softball player Rylie Devlin has recently signed to continue her athletic and academic career at Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She will be studying physical therapy during her time. Devlin is originally from Davenport, Iowa and graduated from Davenport North High School.
Rylie had this to say about choosing Mount Mercy, “I chose Mount Mercy because I loved the environment and the girls I got to meet. It feels like a great opportunity for me, and I am so excited!”
During her time at Hawkeye, Devlin has put together a career average of .232 and on base percentage of .263. This season, she is hitting .265 with a .271 on base percentage, and she is slugging .506. She has collected 41 hits, including ten doubles, three triples, and three home runs. She has 40 runs batted in and has scored 23 times.
Outside of softball, she has also been named to the ICCAC Second Team Academic All-Region.
“I am very proud of Rylie for committing to Mount Mercy,” commented head coach Courtney Calkins. “She has grown so much as an athlete and as a person these last two years. She has done a great job in the outfield for us this year and has come up very clutch in many big moments. We are going to miss Rylie, but I know she is going to do big things at Mount Mercy.”
“My time at Hawkeye was so fun. I love all the friends I have made along the way and how far I’ve grown as a person and a player!” said Devlin.
