RedTail Softball Lands Alexis Marquez
RedTail Softball head coach Courtney Calkins announces the signing of Alexis Marquez to the 2026 recruiting class. Marquez is the daughter of Billie and Mark Marquez and attends Millard West High School in Omaha, Nebraska. She plans to pursue an associate of arts in marketing.
Marquez has played for the Nebraska Echoes, and during her last season, she put together a .347 average with a .422 on base percentage. She has put together 42 hits, including six doubles, three triples, and one homerun. She has collected 29 runs batted in, 31 runs scored, and four stolen bases.
Outside of softball, she has also lettered in lacrosse for four years and lettered in academics for four years. She has spent time volunteering through her lacrosse team, travel softball team, and putting in time into her community to give back.
Marquez had this to say about choosing Hawkeye, “I chose Hawkeye Community College because I believe Coach Calkins has a great coaching style and is very believing in her players as well as striving to make them the best player they can be. I also chose this school because I love the area and the campus, everything is very tight knit which provides close relationships with the coaches, other players, and professors. Something I am most excited for next year is when we get to go down to Florida as well as getting to travel with the girls. Lastly, I chose Hawkeye Community College because I wanted to continue playing softball at the next level.”
“I am very excited that Alexis decided to be a RedTail next year!” commented head coach Courtney Calkins. “Alexis has that spark that every team needs. She is someone who loves the game of softball and strives to get better every day. She makes the people around her better on and off the field. I can’t wait to see what she can do here at Hawkeye.”
