Jamie Jones Joins RedTail Softball
RedTail Softball head coach Courtney Calkins announces the signing of Jamie Jones to the 2026 recruiting class. Jones is the daughter of Nate and Alicia Jones and attends Sumner Fredericksburg High School. She plans to pursue an associate of arts degree and majoring in elementary education.
During Jones’ high school career, she has put together an impressive resume, with a .387 batting average, a .450 on base percentage, and 149 hits overall. She has 51 doubles, four triples, and 14 home runs. She also has walked 53 times, scored 14 times, and has 173 runs batted in. Behind the dish, she has thrown out 35 runners attempting to steal on her and has maintained an impressive .993 fielding percentage.
For her time at Sumner-Fredricksburg, she has been named to multiple All Conference awards, including First Team twice, Second Team once, and honorable mention once. She has also been named to First Team All-District and Second Team All-State for softball.
Outside of softball, Jamie is also involved in volleyball, wrestling, and track and field.. For volleyball, she was awarded the E. Wayne Cooley “You Can” Award. For wrestling, she had the best record on the team, was named most improved, won the Gillette Award three times, and won the Harley Award.
Her resume also includes many impressive accomplishments outside of sports. She has maintained a 3.75 or higher GPA each semester. She is involved in FFA and is Chapter President. She is involved in NHS, Hope Squad, and S.W.A.T. She was named Bremer County Fair Queen and Homecoming Queen this past year. She has also spent time volunteering with local youth sports and local elementary schools.
Jones had this to say about choosing Hawkeye, “Hawkeye is giving me the ability to continue my softball career and education. I am excited to be surrounded by girls who are all there for the same reasons and have the same passion for the game. I am most excited about meeting new people and starting a new chapter in my life.”

She has the drive to be the best in every aspect of her life,” commented head coach Courtney Calkins. “On the field, she is powerful at the plate and makes elite defensive plays. She will be a huge asset to our team next year. Outside of softball, she stays involved and is one that represents herself, the team, and her community in the best way possible. I can’t wait to see what she can accomplish here!”
