Women’s Bowling Starts Season with Historic Weekend
DUBUQUE-The RedTail Women's Bowling team opened the season with a bang, capturing the All-Tournament Title with their play in the Clarke Invitational this weekend, January 23.
Saturday was highlighted by the phenomenal performance of freshman Whitney Morse, who put her talents on display in her first collegiate competition. Morse made RedTail history, as she was the first individual on the All-Tournament Team Championship, which is given to the top individual performer. This performance helped boost the RedTails to fourth place, and a position to qualify for matchplay.
Sunday's start was a slow one, as the women struggled to settle in on the lanes. The slow start proved to be disastrous, as the RedTails fell to fifth place, missing matchplay by 77 pins.
"We have so much talent on the team that I expect the women's team to live and learn from this tournament and move on big things in the future," coach Heath Kohl stated. "The sky's the limit for our team."
The RedTails will look to build on their success this coming weekend as they head up to Wisconsin to compete at the Warhawk Invitational starting January 30.
