RedTails Women’s Golf Battles Through Two-Day Tournament at River Falls
The Hawkeye Community College Women's Golf team competed in the River Falls Invitational over the weekend, showing steady improvement across two days at River Falls Golf Course.
On day one (Saturday, August 30), sophomore Grace Burg led the RedTails with an opening-round 88, highlighted by consistent play on the front nine. Freshman Natalie Sinnwell followed with a 99, while Maddie Sundine carded a 104. Eve Brumbaugh and Makenna Brissey rounded out the team scoring with rounds of 113 and 114.
The team came back stronger on day two (Sunday, August 31), cutting scores despite the quick turnaround. Burg once again paced the RedTails with a 91, improving her two-day total to 179. Brumbaugh had one of the largest improvements of the weekend, shaving 18 strokes off her first round to shoot 95. Sinnwell recorded a 105, Brissey finished with a 108, and Sundine posted a 110 to close out the event.
Head Coach Micah Destival praised his squad's resilience and progress across the two days:
"We couldn't have asked for a better two days of golf and we improved from day one to day two even with not a lot of rest with the early start. I thought we showed improvement in a week from the previous tournament and look forward to some home cooking at Irv Warren this coming Thursday."
The RedTails will return to action at home on Thursday, September 4, at Irv Warren Memorial Golf Course in Waterloo.
