This week, the RedTails traveled to West Burlington, Iowa, to take on Southeastern Community College. Riding the momentum from a major win, the team delivered another strong performance, securing a 3-0 victory.
Southeastern set up in a deep defensive block from the opening whistle, making it difficult for the RedTails to create clear scoring opportunities in the first half. Despite the crowded box, they broke through just before halftime to take a 1-0 lead.
After a focused and motivating halftime talk from the coaching staff, the RedTails came out with renewed energy. They added two more goals in the second half, overcoming Southeastern's physical second half performance.
Sophomore Eve Harriott, had the stand alone goal in the first half. She reflects on the game, saying, "The first half was tough because Southeastern sat in a really low block, which made it hard to break through and create chances. Since we hadn't scored yet, we started forcing things and kept losing the ball. But once we finally got that goal, we settled down and played the way we know we can."
The RedTails will turn around and take a weekend trip to play Central Community College in Columbus Nebraska on Saturday October 4th.
