RedTail Track and Field Compete at Chelsey Henkenius Open
The RedTails track and field teams were in action Saturday, January 17, competing at the Chelsey Henkenius Open hosted by Wartburg College.
Men's Team Highlights
Sprints & Short Sprints
The men's sprinters set the tone early, led by freshman Tarelle Hoskins, who delivered one of the top RedTail performances of the day. Hoskins won the 200 meters, clocking 22.94 in his section and securing the overall victory. He also competed in the 60m prelims.
Freshman Tariq Moore advanced to the 60m finals, placing 8th overall with a time of 7.15 after a strong 7.03 in prelims. Moore doubled back in the 200m, finishing 4th overall with a season-opening 23.15.
Mid-Distance
Freshman Brady Eike had a standout day, placing 4th in the 800m with a time of 2:21.58 and later returning for a 12th-place finish in the mile at 5:19.18.
Throws
The RedTail throwers showed depth and promise:

Eric Neipert placed 13th in the shot put with a best of 12.56m, and added a 15th-place finish in the weight throw at 12.54m.

Logan Scafferi contributed with a 9.13m mark in the weight throw, placing 26th.
Women's Team Highlights
Sprints
Freshman Autumn Damm led the women's sprint squad with a 9th-place finish in the 200m, running 28.25, and placing 16th in the 60m prelims with 8.39.
Mid-Distance
Sophomore Mallori Jones, who has been highlighted in previous RedTail recaps for her versatility and competitiveness, continued her strong form. She placed:

7th in the 600m with a time of 1:22.47

16th in the 200m with 29.41
Freshman Cecilia Smith added a 15th-place finish in the 600m, running 2:29.60.
Throws
The women's throwers delivered some of the best RedTail results of the meet:

Riley Goddard earned a runner-up finish in the weight throw, launching a season-best 15.14m.

Goddard also placed 11th in the shot put with 10.52m.

Kailan McEwen added two top-10 finishes:

6th in the shot put with 11.55m

6th in the weight throw with 14.15m

After Saturday's action at Wartburg, assistant coach David Holesinger shared his thoughts on the RedTails' performance and progress.
"A solid day at Wartburg, showcasing some strong individual performances. While we're pleased with our progress, we know there's still plenty of room to grow as a team moving forward," said Holesinger. "Some highlights include Tarelle Hoskins event win in the 200m, Riley Godard's runner-up finish in the weight throw, and Mallori Jones performance in the 600m, which puts her 3rd in school history."
"Excited to see what this team can do in the coming weeks. Roll 'Tails!" Holesinger added.
