RedTails Close Out Year in Council Bluffs
The RedTails Track and Field team wrapped up a solid weekend in Council Bluffs, Iowa at Regionals. "It was a bittersweet weekend as we got to watch some of our graduating athletes compete for the last time as RedTails. We feel very fortunate to have had our time with them and are excited to see what they do next." said coach David Holesinger.
As a team, they were highlighted by Ryan Lenoard's first-place finish in the men's decathlon. He broke his own school record with 5,468 points and grabbed the final qualifying spot for the NJCAA Championships. Logan Scafferi, Tarelle Hoskins, and the 4x800 team of Chandler Drake, Brady Eike, Tynan Van Der Veer, and Sam Brace also scored valuable points for the men's team.
On the women's side, Kailin McEwen, Resse Winslow, and Mallori Jones each contributed points. McEwen placed second and third in the hammer and shot put, Winslow also scored in the shot put with a sixth-place finish, and Jones placed sixth in the 1500m and seventh in the 800m.
"Overall, it was a strong meet to close out the season. Looking ahead, we are excited for a large incoming first-year class that will lean on the experience of our soon-to-be sophomores. We're thankful for what we have and excited for the future. Roll 'Tails!" said Holesinger.
