RedTails Take Title for Region XI Championship
The RedTail Women's Cross Country team took the first place team title for the Regional XI Championship Division ll on Sunday, November 1. The RedTail head coach, Tyler Mulder, was named Women's Coach of the Year for Region XI Division ll.
Ryann Portch set the pace for the team with a time of 19:30.45 finishing in second place in division ll and fifth place overall. Kaylee Leicht followed close behind with a time of 20:05.31 finishing in third place overall. Sophie Spargur (20:55.31,4th), Hannah Payne (21:20.89,5th), and Rachel Wardell (21:46.90, 6th) rounded out the top five scoring athletes. Elizabeth Barfells (22:13.16) and Maddie Erhardt (24:21.59) rounded out the women competing for the RedTails.
"I'm really proud of these girls for their championship mindset on the Region XI racing," Mulder said. "Ryann went for it from the gun to chase for Championship rights! Sophie Spargur ran a really strong race as well, she really stepped up to fill in as our third scoring runner. We'll look to freshen up the legs and put their mindset onto the National Meet!"
The RedTails will be back in action for the NJCAA Nationals on Saturday, November 14.
