RedTails Fall to DMACC on the Road, Shift Focus to Big Weekend Ahead
Hawkeye Community College Volleyball faced a tough matchup on Wednesday night, falling 3–0 to Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) in conference play.
The RedTails battled throughout the night but couldn't find their rhythm, dropping sets 25–14, 25–15, and 25–18. Offensively, Shannon Moorman and Emersyn Secora led the attack with six kills apiece, while Ruby Patterson added seven assists and Alexie Hogan anchored the defense with ten digs.
Head Coach Chris Mahi acknowledged the team's effort but emphasized the need for more consistency moving forward:
"We really struggled with consistency. We had too many missed serves and reception errors, and because of that, it was hard to build any momentum. DMACC played well against us and they are a good team."
Looking ahead, the RedTails will turn their attention to a major test this weekend as they travel to compete in the Heartland Tournament, where they'll face nationally ranked opponents #1 and #6 in the country.
